COMMUNITY: Rainbow ties help in the show ring

Created for competitors with autism, rainbow ties are a discreet sign that a competitor may have difficulty understanding and communicating in a showring atmosphere.

They have been successfully used at the Stars Champion of Champions horse show, which replicates a Horse of the Year Show experience.ÌýThe show does not require proof of disability and the ties are available for use by any exhibitor who may benefit.

Clara's mother, Michelle Estwood said: "The rainbow ties have been a great idea, although I was sceptical about using it at first. I did not think Clara would want to attract attention, but the stewards gave her the time and patience she needed to present her pony for the confirmation phase of the show. She was later presented the ‘shining star' award from that class."
