Initially available as the 6.0 metre Apex 6000 RC and 8.0 m Apex 8000 RC , both models feature a 5,600-litre split hopper and new Isoflex seed coulter units. These are available at 167mm or 200mm row spacings and use a narrow-angle single-disc opener positioned alongside a large gauge wheel to provide accurate depth control.

The seed coulters are mounted on parallelogram linkages with 330mm of vertical movement to maintain seed placement across uneven ground. Hydraulic pressure can be adjusted from a claimed 80kg to 250kg through the IsoBus control system.

Kuhn says forward speeds of up to 12km/h can be achieved while maintaining accurate seed placement. A 460mm under-chassis clearance is designed to allow cover crops and crop trash to pass through the drill without blocking.

Seed is delivered from the coulters in a tapered seed boot positioned alongside the opening disc. Kuhn says its design directs seed towards the front of the boot, helping prevent seed being blown out of the seed furrow and maintaining accurate placement.

A large-diameter notched closing wheel with adjustable angle is designed to maintain seed-to-soil contact across different soil types.

The pressurised hopper is divided into two 2,600-litre compartments, with separate metering systems feeding four distribution heads and two seeding lines. This allows half-width shut-off, while the system can also handle two products in different configurations, including fertiliser alongside seed, alternate-row sowing and intercropping.

An additional 400-litre hopper can be integrated, offering up to 20 interchangeable metering cassettes to suit different seed types.

The drill is controlled through IsoBus from the tractor's terminal or a secondary display. A side platform provides safer access to the hopper for filling, while an integrated emptying system allows unused seed to be transferred into a bag rather than being discharged onto the ground.

Kuhn says the Apex has been developed in response to farmer and contractor feedback, having developed the drill to work in both direct-drilled and cultivated conditions.

UK farmers will get their first opportunity to see the Apex at Cereals 2027, with limited machines available from the first production run. Prices have yet to be announced.听
