'Don't bring back food to UK' - Gov plea to holidaymakers as foot-and-mouth disease risk remains high

Defra said a foot-and-mouth outbreak in the UK, like the one farmers experienced in 2001, could result in the culling of large numbers of the country's livestock and cost the UK economy billions of pounds

It has been 18 years since the UK last experienced a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, and holidaymakers could play their part in keeping it that way by not bringing food back with them to the country....
