Welsh Black champion bull sells for 15,500gns at Dolgellau

THE ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Guardian supported Welsh Black Cattle Society sale at Dolgellau topped at 15,500gns.

This was for the champion bull, May 2020-born Caerynwch Ebrillwr 16 by Caerynwch Banner 6 from T.W Williams and Co, Dolgellau, which sold to H. W. Jones, Llwynsarn, Rhydymain.


Next at 9,600gns was October 2020-born Ynysfergi Addewid, a son of Mynydd Major, consigned by Owen M. Jenkins, Aberystwyth, which was knocked down to D. B. Jenkins, Cerrigcaranau, Talybont.

Caerynwch Baron 12, a June 2020-born bull by Perthi Banner, again from T.W Williams and Co, sold for 7,000gns to G Jones a’i Gwmni, Betws y Coed.


Two bulls sold for 6,000gns. The first was April 2020-born Tryfil Timi by Llechwedd Twm from I. G. Roberts, Lanerchymedd, which went to Jenkins and Partners, Talybont.


The other at this money was Caran Thunderstorm, May 2020-born son of Caran Thunderballs consigned by Dilwyn B. Jenkins, Talybont, which went home with J. G. Davies, Talsarnau.

The champion female, June 2019-born Tryfil Camelia 20 by Lechwedd Tym, from Messrs Roberts sold, in-calf to Gerddi John, for 1,900gns. The buyer was Dafydd Edwards, Llanon, who also paid 1,500gns for the reserve champion female, Dyfnant Addawol 31, a June 2019-born daughter of Llechwedd Rhys 47, in-calf to Trefaes Blewgi 2, from D. Glyn Thomas, Llangadog.


The champion maiden heifer, May 2020-born Deicws Marian 31 from G. C. Williams, Abergele, sold for 1,900gns Richard Lewis, Tynyfach, Tywyn, with another maiden heifer, Deicws Sara, from the same home selling for 1,900gns to D.W. Jones, Llanrwst.


The reserve maiden heifer, January 202-born Arglwyddes Eirian 13 from Dafydd G. Jenkins, Talybont, made 1,750gns to R. T. Richards, Llansannan.

Average – bulls, 5,082.
