Stirling bull sales: High of 36,000gns for Limousins

Selling for a breed record for the October sale of 36,000gns was the overall and junior champion, Goldies Volvo from Bruce Goldie, Mouswald

The sale saw the 39 bulls average £9,329, up £3,026 on 2024, with an 89% clearance rate.

The sale leader was an April 2024-born bull by Ampertaine Opportunity, which is also the sire of Mr Goldies 70,000gns bull sold at Carlisle a few days earlier.

Out of Goldies Pleasure, a Goldies Juggler daughter, it was a winner at the Royal Highland Show this summer. The buyer was Garrowby Estate, York.

Next, at 19,000gns, from the Irvine family, Keith, was the heifer's calf, Anside Valor, a March 2024-born son of Anside Superted out of Anside Suzie, which was knocked down to A. and D. Grant, Blairgowrie.

Mike and Lisa Massie, Ellon, then took 16,000gns for Elrick Valiant, an April 2024-born bull by Fushia out of Elrick Stellan. It went home with G.T. Wordie, Huntley.

The reserve junior champion, Maraiscote Vanadium, an April 2024-born son of Virginia Andy out of Maraiscote Platinum consigned by Ian and Andrew Nimmo, Wishaw, sold for 14,000gns to Peter Alexander, Blairgowrie.

Maraiscote Vermillion, an April 2024-born bull by Morhan Peter from the same home then sold for 13,000gns to Tom Stirling, Carrbridge.

Mr Alexander also paid 12,000gns for the reserve senior champion, Corsaintly Vavavoom by Whinfellpark Ronaldo from R. and K. Davidson, Keith.

Second prize-winner, Fodderletter Valiente, a January 2024-born son of Hartsideanew Shearer, which had been breed champion at Nairn Show and reserve inter-breed winner at the Black Isle Show, sold for 11,000gns.

Consigned by W. Robertson and Son, Ballindalloch, it went to the Scottish Bull Stud, Knocknagael.

Also making 11,000gns was Anside Venom, another bull by Anside Superted from the Irvines, which sold to J.T. and S.A. Cannon, Newton Stewart.

From the same home and one of five bulls to sell for 10,000gns was Anside Verve, again by Superted, which was knocked down to George McFadzean, Perth.

Also making 10,000gns was Burnbank Uptownfunk by Milbrook Playboy, consigned by Dougie and Lynda Graham, Blairdrummond, which was knocked down to D.S. Stark and Sons, Abernyte.

Next, at 10,000gns, for Jimmy and Donald MacGregor, Glasgow, was March 2024-born Dyke Vivaldi by Wilodge Cereberus, which sold to J.T. and S.A. Cannon, Newton Stewart.

Messrs Nimmo also sold a bull at 10,000gns. This was Maraiscote Vain, another son of Morham Peter, which went to the Scottish Bull Stud.

Grahams Vin, a son of Grahams Michael consigned by Robert and Jean Graham, Bridge of Allan, was the final bull to make 10,000gns when selling to Mr Alexander.

Averages – 39 bulls, £9,329 (+£3,026 on 2024); 3 females, £2,975.
