Loosebeare and Whitehart top at 5,500gns twice
The ninth joint production sale of females from the Loosebeare and Whitehart flocks at Worcester saw a top call of 5,500gns on two occasions, both times for Whitehart gimmers from Nicki and Jim Hartwright, Bringsty, Worcestershire.
First at the top call was a Castlecairn Googlebug daughter out of a Whitehart Dynamo-sired dam which sold to Paul Tippetts, Shifnal.
The second at this price was another by Googlebug, this one out of a dam by the 7,000gns Whitehart Big Style. It sold to Matthew Fear, Somerset.
A 4,800gns bid topped the Devon-based Quick family's Loosebeare offering. This daughter of the 48,000gns Sportsmans Dare Devil is out of a dam by Teiglum Cosmic and sold to J. Qunica, Wesington, Derbyshire.
At the same money was a Loosebeare Foreman daughter out of a dam by the 8,200gns Whitehart Class Act which sold to Matthew Fear.
Next at 2,400gns was another from Loosebeare. This daughter of the home-bred Loosebeare Foreman, out of a dam by Teiglum Cosmic, was knocked down to Peter Barlow, Nottingham.

Flying cow and calf trade at Sedgemoor
Suckler cow trade soared at Sedgemoor's monthly offering, supported by the 32 cows and calves forward for dispersal from T.S. and N.D. Stevens, Wells. Their entry of bluetongue vaccinated British Blue cross and Limousin cross cows with spring-born Limousin calves at foot topped the sale at £6,300, averaging £4,279/outfit for the 32 cows with 32 calves on offer.
Sale leader at £6,300 was a 2021-born Limousin cross cow with May-born steer calf at foot.
Another 2021-born Limousin cross cow and steer outfit made £5,500, with others levelling at £5,200, £5,100 three times and £5,000 twice for 2013-born British Blue cross cows with calves at foot. R.J. Cuzens, Dorchester, also dispersed their pedigree Saler cows and Charolais cross calves from Dorchester, with their first outfit realising £4,100.
In the main sale section trade for native-bred outfits was strong, with a non-pedigree Aberdeen Angus cow and steer calf realising £3,300 for K.M.S. and M.E. Dew, Cullompton. A small entry of stock bulls also sold to £3,400 for a Charolais bull from W. Glover. Yeovil.
On the same day, Sedgemoor's weekly dairy trade saw 27 milkers sell for more than £3,000, topping at £3,950 for a Withamhall-bred heifer from P.A. Cleeve, Bude, Cornwall.
Other heifers from East Avercombe Farm, South Molton, and M.L. and R.I. Loder, Yeovil, sold for £3,900 and £3,800 while Johnson Partners, Chard, also sold outfits to £3,900.
N. Herrod, Axminster, and G.F. and D.B. Bussel took £3,700 bids for heifers, with M.K.J. Reed and Son, Cullompton, also selling heifers for £3,700 and £3,500 as well as topping the cow trade at £2,700 for a Brown Swiss.
In-calf Holstein heifers due in September sold to £2,450 for Phillip Pile, Sussex.
Out of calving pattern cows due in February 2026 sold to £1,550 for Sutton Hall Farms, Sussex.

Young handler retains Skipton supreme title
Skipton's annual young handlers highlight saw 2024-winner Kieran Robinson, Tosside, retain the supreme championship title for a second year running. Kieran,12, took the title this year with with his home-bred 48kg Beltex cross lamb, by a tup from Anne Story's Cumbrian-based BorderEsk flock. The victor sold for £230, the day's second top call, to Craven Farm Butchers in Gargrave.
The same buyers also paid top price of £240 for the reserve champion, a 49kg home-bred Texel-cross from 11-year Freddie Barrett, Summerbridge.
Winning the class for the youngest entrants was six-year-old Lucy Parker, Rivington, with a 44kg lamb which sold for £176 to wholesale butchers J. and E. Medcalf, Halifax.
Runner-up in the 7-11 years category was Connor Robinson, Tosside, with a 39kg Beltex cross lamb, which sold for £158 to J. and E. Medcalf.
At the older end, 13-year-old Rosie Garth, Long Preston, finished runner-up in her age group with a 42kg lamb which sold for £168 to Andrew Atkinson, Felliscliffe,

Store cattle sell to £2,990
A catalogued entry of 673-head was presented at Hexham and Northern Marts anniversary prize show and sale of store cattle, which marked the 30th anniversary of the opening of its Tyne Green Auction Market Complex in 1995.
Leading the trade was the champion Charolais cross steer from James Herdman and Family, Edlingham, which sold for £2,990. Their run of 11 cattle, including heifers to a top of £2,560, sold to an average of £2,513.
The benchmark Limousin trade was set by Messrs Herdman, Consett, who sold 13 bullocks which peaked at £2,840 and levelled at £2,689.
Another £2,840 bid came for a British Blue cross bullock from Messrs Carrr, Hexham, with the best of the Aberdeen Angus trade coming for a third prize bullock from Messrs Tomlinson, Consett, when it sold for £2,760, with their six sold averaging £2,663.
A £2,740 bid came for a Limousin steer from Ian Thornton, Farnham, which led his pen of Limousin, Charolais, Aberdeen Angus and Luing steers which levelled at £2,603.
Two £2,700 bids secured the day's overall champion and reserve. Top prize winner was a Limousin heifer from Arthur, Diane and Andrew Proctor, Morpeth, with a Blonde d'Aquitaine heifer standing reserve from Robert, John and Jake English, Hexham, who also sold a bullock by the same bull for £2,760.

Duncryne Iniesta leads J36 Texels
A ram lamb from Kerr Jarvie's Perthshire-based flock, Duncryne Iniesta, led the trade at the North West Texel Breeders Club Sale at J36, at 2,800gns.
By the home-bred Duncryne Houdini and out of a Scholars Dynamite daughter, which also bred the 5,000gns Duncryne Geronimo, it sold to Derrick Horn, Hunsonby, for the Moorside flock.
At 2,500gns was Thomas Ayrton's best of the day, Ayrtons Idol. By Overburns Hector and out of a Midlock-bred dam by Claybury Dunkirk, it sold to the Keighley family, Leithley, for the Helmark flock.
At the same money and topping the shearling rams was Midlock Hercules from Karen Wight, Biggar. This one by Forkins Fancy and out of a dam by Clinterty Yuga Khan, it sold to T. and S. B. Procter, Musgrave, Kirkby Stephen.
Messrs Jessop, Coalville, paid 2,400gns for Uppermill Isaak from David McKerrow, Tarves, Aberdeenshire.
A trio then made 1,800gns, the first being a shearling ram from Robert Laird and family, Biggar, Cambwell Hawk which sold to Messrs Drinkall Bros, Over Wyresdale.
Second at this price was ram lamb Garngour Ian from Alan Clark and family, Lesmahagow. It sold to Paul and Amanda Sykes, for the Quarryside flock.
The third 1,800gns call in the males came for Midlock Impala from Karen Wight, which sold to W. M. Reed and Sons, Westgate in Weardale.
Topping the female trade at 1,800gns was a Midlock Grizzly-sired gimmer from David Houghton's Tophill flock, Bury. Out of a Garngour ewe by Knock Diablo, it sold to S. R. and J. E. Symes for the Anglezarke flock.

Store lamb averages up on the year
Store lambs at Skipton saw 4,806 sold to an overall average up on the year at £101.69.
The sale included a larger turnout of young late April and May-born lambs, alongside more North of England Mule wethers and hill-bred lambs starting to make up the entry.
The top price pen at £161/head came for a Texel pair from Annabel Sugden, Laycock, with the same vendor consigning five more pens at £130-£140.
Beltex lambs peaked at £156/head for G.M. and V. Bayles, Richmond, who had another four pens at £129.50-£139.
Younger smart continentals sold at between £115 and £125, with first-cross continentals seeing the strongest trade at between £120-£130.
Suffolks peaked at £129 for a pen of 90 strong lambs from the Reeday family, Hetton, and Mule wethers sold to £118 from K.R. Verity, Middlesmoor. Hill-bred lambs sold £100 upward for fleshy types.

Gisburn dairy sells to £3,680
Gisburn Auction Marts' weekly dairy sale peaked at £3,680 where 32 of the 80-plus entry sold in excess of £3,000.
Sale leader at £3,680 was a 33kg Copdon heifer from G. D. Donkin, Blackburn. By Matcrest Hailed, it is out of a Delta-Lambda dam. At £3,550 was Ripon vendors' Jennings ²ÝÁñÉçÇø' Abbeyhouse Alcove Ruby 2 out of a Toc-Farm Fitz dam, and the same vendors then took a £3,420 bid on a Stantons Adorable daughter out of a Kirkby Premier-sired dam.
R. and M. Cowgill, Much Hoole, Preston also had a heifer at £3,550, this one a Delta Everton daughter from their Hoole Rosanna family, and then at £3,520 sold a Peak Tropic daughter out of their 11,967kg Hoole Hiro Daphne.
Pedigree newly calved cows reached £3,300 for Broughton, Skipton vendor R. M. Shackleton's Broholme Lighthouse Mona 3.
Non-pedigree fresh heifers sold to a top of £3,550 for R. W. and M. Walker, Laycock, West Yorkshire, while J. and B. Rowland, Haighton, Preston sold two at £3,320 and £3,280. D. A. Tatham and H. Lawrence, Fence, Burnley, sold their heifer at £3,220.
The in-calf trade peaked at £2,750 for the best of three pedigree entries from D. W. and M. N. Ishmael, Orrell, Wigan, with two more at £2,620 and £2,600, while J. and B. Rowland sold non-pedigrees to £2,700.

Store cattle to £2,585 for Limousin heifer
A 149-strong entry was forward at Penrith's fortnightly sale of store cattle and feeding bulls where trade topped at £2,585 for a 23-month-old Limousin heifer from M.T.P. and S.D. Wills, Dufton, Appleby-in-Westmorland, with another from this home realising £2,495.
R.G. and T.B. Wilson, Berrier, sold 15-month-old Limousin heifers to £1,975, with M. Ridsdale and Son, Calthwaite, selling a run of 12 mainly Aberdeen Angus heifers to average £2,322.
Bullocks topped at £2,545 for a 19-month-old Limousin heifer from B. Walton, Great Asby and
D.W. Burne, Langwathby, sold 24-month-old Holstein bullocks to £1,935.
