The World Angus Forum 2025 took place on May 7 and 8 in Brisbane, Australia. Ìý

The British and Irish Lions youth team consisting of James Morrison (captain), John Smyth, Ellie Westaway, Graeme Rhind and Oisin Keogh, competed against other teams from participating countries in a range of agriculturally based competitions which were designed to be fun and challenging.

Platform

It was undoubtedly a remarkable networking event attended by like-minded individuals from across the world. The post-tour and event offered the team a unique platform for learning, networking, and celebrating our shared passion for the Angus breed.

Achievements

The team members were able to reflect their individual achievements and were also ambassadors for the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society and the wider Angus community. Their combined skills and expertise contributed to the success of our team and showcased the excellence of Aberdeen-Angus on a global stage.

Results of British and Irish Lions team

  • Third place overall in the competition
  • Champions in the team debate competition
  • James Morrison was awarded the Spirit of Angus Award as best overall competitor.
  • Ellie Westaway was awarded the Team Spirit Award.
  • Oisin Keogh was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award.
  • The team was second in the Marketing Competition
  • The team was second in the Steer Your Story Competition
  • The team took third place in the Shoot to Show Ring Competition (clipping and dressing)
  • The team Ìýtook third place in the Stockmans Challenge.
  • John Smyth was 6th in the Ring Craft heat
  • James Morrison was 5th in Ring Craft heatÌý
  • James Morrison was 5th overall individual stock judgeÌý

Competition elements

Youth delegates partook in various competitions designed to challenge and inspire, and teams consisted of four individuals aged 18-25 as of April 28, 2025. From stockjudging to public speaking, delegates showcased their talents and competed against peers from around the world. Competitions included:

  •  Stock handling and preparation
  •  Agricultural skills (such as fencing and machinery operation)
  •  Public speaking
