Perthshire farmer and comedian Jim Smith who hosted last year's BFAs
Last year's British Farming Awards host Jim Smith has landed a new BBC show all about life as a modern farmer.
The Perthshire-based beef and sheep farmer, who is also a stand-up comedian, will be sharing his unique take on farming in a five-part Radio 4 series entitled, Me and the Farmer.
Each episode will feature anecdotes about life on his family farm, which Mr Smith has promised will be an 鈥榓n honest, behind the scenes look at what it takes to be a modern farmer' and includes topics such as growing up on a farm, attending agricultural college and being part of the Young 草榴社区 movement - where he got the bug for comedy after writing sketches for the group's panto.

Announcing the news on X, Mr Smith encouraged his 18.5 thousand followers to tune in and said: "Would love it if you could give it a wee listen."
A finalist in So You Think You're Funny in 2014, Mr Smith first came to wider prominence in the BBC Scotland short which has amassed 9.4 million views on Facebook. He has also enjoyed two sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as appearances on BBC Scotland's Scot Squad and BBC Short Stuff.

Mr Smith previously presented the character comedy showcase Can You Hear Me Now? for Radio 4 and has appeared on its agricultural show On Your Farm.
The first episode Born to Farm will be broadcast at 11pm on July 鈥�3, with the whole series available on BBC Sounds.
