NFU Conference 2024: Top takeaways from Rishi Sunak's speech

The Prime Minister has outlined how he wishes to support the farming sector going forwards. You can read the full report on this here.

Today (February 20) he spoke at NFU Conference 2024 - here are just some of his main points:

  1. The Government has committed to maintaining the £2.4bn for this Parliament but there is no more money
  2. There will be a Farm-to-Fork food summit each year
  3. £220m to be made available for innovation and productivity grants
  4. Cutting red tape around permitted development rules as farmers should be able to develop on their own land
  5. The new legislation regarding dairy contracts goes before Parliament tomorrow
