Firefighters rescue a stranded sheep from Leicestershire canal

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue said it took over three hours to save the sheep from the water

A sheep had to be rescued by firefighters after getting itself stranded in a Leicestershire canal.

Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the scene by the RSPCA in the area of Great Bowden near Market Harborough on Wednesday (November 8).

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said specialist equipment was used to pull the sheep back to land.

The rescue took more than three hours in total, fire crews added.

Firefighters said the sheep was assessed by a vet for injuries at a nearby farm.
