Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been confirmed in commercial poultry at a premises near Donington, South Holland, Lincolnshire on November 9.
A 3 kilometre protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone have been declared around the premises.
Avian flu
The main causes of bird flu in poultry and other captive birds are contact with听wild birds, in particular waterfowl such as geese, ducks and swans and gulls,听faeces from infected birds and听dirty footwear, clothing and vehicles and equipment.
