The three rainbow-coloured ewes were donated by Roger Charnley, from Grassington in North Yorkshire who came up with the idea of selling a trio of colourful ewes aid of a deserving charity.

Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides support to families caring for children with life-threatening and terminal illness and is currently marking its 37th anniversary.

The ewes went under the hammer in the sale ring no less than ten times after first being purchased, as charitable farmers at CCM Auctions, Skipton, then re-offered the trio for sale repeatedly.

The colourful ewes were finally sold to Will Wildman, of Kirkby Malham, who plans to graze them at his farm in the Dales.

Later this year the trio will return to Skipton Auction Mark, to again be sold in aid of charity.

Oonagh Goodman, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Rainbow Trust, said: "We are incredibly grateful to farmer Roger for donating his colourful rainbow sheep and to CCM Auctions for their support.Ìý

"The money raised will help Rainbow Trust to support families to make the most of the precious time they have together."
