Ed Foster has transformed The Rhynd in Fife into a dynamic rural enterprise, securing its future through a bold and creative approach to farm diversification, highlighted by winning Diversification (Large) of the Year at The British Farming Awards 2024. Overseeing a thriving mix of ventures, including a gym, cafe, event space, clay shooting ground and livery stables, Ed has successfully blended traditional farming with forward-thinking hospitality and leisure offerings.

Rooted in the arable unit at Craigie Farm, the Foster family business has seen over a century of farming, but under Ed's leadership, The Rhynd has become much more than a working farm. The judges described the diversification as a 'pivotal moment' in the business's long history, recognising how Ed's clear vision and energetic leadership have revitalised the farm's future. 

Year-round destination

Since taking the reins, Ed has strategically developed The Rhynd into a year-round destination. From expanding the event space to enhancing the cafe and leisure facilities, every move has been driven by customer feedback and a genuine desire to provide memorable, high-quality experiences. "We aim to create enjoyable experiences for our visitors," Ed explains. "It is about listening and always improving."

"This win is for our amazing team, for their hard work and dedication through all the long days."
