Greenside Rouge lamb makes 2,300gns
IT was the second-prize ram lamb from Laine Daff, Uplaw Moor, that topped the Rouge sale at Carlisle, when it sold to Messrs Nairey, Blackburn, for 2,300gns.
The January-born Greenside Endevour is a son of Greenside Alonso and stood reserve male at this year's Royal Highland Show. Its dam is Bennachie Trina, a multi-champion ewe.
Alistair and Alison Mitchell's Grassnop Epic, a Bennachie Avatar-sired lamb from Skelton, stood reserve male champion.ÌýBred from Grassknop Beautiful, it sold to the Phillips family, Weobley, for 1,500gns.
Colin, Wendy and Owen Phillips saw their champion, Powerhouse Delorean, sell to Frankland Farms, Settle, for 1,400gns.ÌýIt is sired by Powerhouse Charmer.ÌýÌý
Females reached 1,800gns for Mrs Pat Imlah's Bennachie Elaine, a Bennachie Champion-sired ewe lamb from the flock at Newmachar. Buyer was Messrs Price, Wem.
Making 1,100gns when sold to Messrs White, York, was Mrs Imlah's Bennachie Dynasty 1, a Powerhouse Apollo daughter.
Rou-Tex entries reached 700gns twice for a brace of shearling rams by Hodge's Hot Stuff from Kerrie McDermid, Cumnock.
Cargen Glen Dandy sold to Messrs Wilson, Cupar, and Cargen Glen Danny Boy sold to Messrs Storr, Silloth.

Texel tops Ewetopia sale
FEMALES selling at the Ewetopia sale at Darlington set a new sale record price from a record entry that met a 94.5% clearance.
Setting the record of 1,400gns was a pedigree Texel shearling ewe from B.I. and B.M. Mosey's Blackdale flock, York.
Bred from a 7,000gns Ettrick ewe by New View Electrifying, it is by Blackdale Hagrid which goes back to Sadlerhead Fury. It sold to R.J. Davidson, Stainmore.
Next at 1,100gns was a Dutch Texel gimmer from the non MV-accredited section from C.A and J.G. Skidmore, Toronto.ÌýPurchased as a lamb from E. Thompson, Barnard Castle, it went on to sell to Haig Murray, Canonbie.
Harry Askwith, Crook, sold another Dutch Texel shearling for 1,050gns, to M. Radford, Bedale.

Suffolks reached £980 for a shearling from P. and K. Brannen, Penrith, while Beltex sold to £850 for shearlings from both Mel Whitfield-Stout, Esh Winning, and Louis Van-Geffen, Stokesley.
Champion at the pre-sale show was a Blue Texel ewe lamb from James Bailey and Nikki Ramsay, Thirsk, which sold to Georgia Willis, Gilling West, for 750gns.
The reserve, a Texel ewe lamb from B.I. and B.M. Mosey, Gilling East, realised £900 when sold to Jack Sewell, Hamsterley.

Robson leads Ram-page at £3,050
BREEDING rams at the Ram-page sale at Bentham peaked at £3,050 for a Texel shearling from Stuart Robson, Galashields, which sold to A.S. Whitfield, Co Durham.
Not far behind on £3,000 was a cross-bred shearling from the Ingram family, Pitcaple, who sold others to £2,900 and averaged £1,810 for 14.
Simon and Rachael Garth, Clapham, sold Texel shearlings including the Texel champion to £2,900 and £2,600.
Leading the Suffolk entry at £1,900 was a shearling from Messrs Towers, Carnforth, whose run of 10 averaged £1,320.
Beltex peaked at £1,800 for the winning shearling from Messrs Garth, with Charollais to £1,250 for a shearling from Charles Geldard, Gilpin.

Good turnout for anniversary sale at Hexham
AT the anniversary show and sale at Hexham, it was the champion that went on to top the sale at £3,400.
Picked out by Harry Cobden, Somerset, it was a Limousin heifer from A. and D. Proctor, Morpeth, attracted the top bid when sold to B. and T. Kitson, Northallerton.
Steers sold to £2,860 for the Charolais class leader from the Five Houses team, Northallerton.

A run of 60 Aberdeen-Angus cross steers from R. Green and Sons, Alnwick, reached £2,460 and averaged £2,245.
The champions led throughout, as store lambs peaked at £222 for the winning pen of 22 Beltex from C.R. Fawcett, Morpeth.
The 4,886 store lambs averaged £126.10.
A pen of five Texel ewes from Quickening Cote Partners, Alwinton, topped the cast ewes at £315.

Apache attracts the top price at Carlisle
A MILLENIUM Bleu shearling ram topped the Bleu offering at Carlisle when Dylan and Caio Jones' Danygraig Apache sold for 2,200gns.
The section champion at Royal Bath and West Show for the Llandrindod Wells-based flock is by Windrush Juggernaut and out of Danygraig Wasima, a multiple champion ewe. Standing Millenium Bleu champion at the pre-sale show, it sold to Messrs Taylor, Belper.
Messrs Lomas and Partners, Matlock, paid 2,000gns for Aintree Ashley, another Millenium Bleu shearling from R, Pilkington, Wrexham. It is by Llwynbrain Napoleon.
Bleu du Maines peaked at 2,000gns for the champion, Cysgod Atlas from Iwan Davies, Llandyfriog. The shearling, breed champion at the Royal Welsh, is by Cysgod Zayn and out of a Swallows ewe. It sold in a three-way split to Kenny O'Connor, Skye Bleu flock, Coatbridge; Laine Daff, Greenside flock, Uplawmoor; and Messrs Taylor, Biggar.Ìý
Females reached 1,200gns for the first-prize shearling, Skye Bleu Anastasia, from Kenny O'Connor. Sired by Swffryd Zeus, it sold to Messrs Cruden, Aberdeen.
Three gimmers sold for 1,000gns apiece, including Messrs O'Connor's Skye Bleu Angel to Messrs Taylor, Biggar, and Skye Bleu Arabella to Messrs Grimley, Milton Keynes.
Messrs Grimley bought the other at 1,000gns, which was Bowbridge Agnus from Archie Stamp, Mark.
The Major reduction of Will and Kieran Price's Willpower flock, from Horton, peaked at 2,000gns for Willpower Bubbles, a January-born ewe lamb by Aghavilly Zlatan Ibrhimovic. Bred from Willpower Zippy, it sold to Messrs Norman, Taunton.
Willpower Blossom sold to Messrs Millar, Lockerbie, for 1,400gns, while Messrs Taylor, Biggar, paid 1,200gns for Blossom's dam, Willpower Yo Sushi.

Blue bull is best at Bentham
HEADING up the summer calf show at Bentham was a three-month-old Charolais bull calf from David Harrison, Wray, which realised £1,000.
The judge of the pre-sale show, Ben Darwin, Oxspring, backed his decision when he bought his champion for £980. That was an early June-born British Blue bull calf from A.J and A.J Gibbons, St Michaels.
The reserve, a Blue heifer bred from a Fleckvieh cross cow, from Will Robinson, Slaidburn, realised £800.

The dispersal of breeding sheep on behalf of A.I. Walgate and Son, Cuxwold, peaked at £205 for shearling females, with rams to £500 for an Innovis.
Store lambs held firm with a top of £177, paid for a Beltex from J.W. Thorp, Rishwarth, followed at £176 for a pen of 10 Beltex from A.J. Haggas, Otterburn.

Young handler lamb raises money for charity
YOUNG Edward Cass, Scarborough, claimed the tri-colour rosette at the young handlers super single store lamb sale at Darlington, before raising £670 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Thanks to the generous buyers of the lamb, it eventually sold for £170, with a further £500 raised.
The reserve champion, a Charollais from Henry Dickinson, Middlesbrough, sold for £126, and Henry also won the showmanship award.
Winning the best turned out was Patrick Dodsworth, Alston.
Store lambs peaked at £180/head for a pair of Beltex from M.R. Cass, Scalby, as the sale averaged £115.40/head.
Breeding sheep peaked at £360 for a continental shearling from C.A. and J.G. Skidmore, Bishop Auckland.

Limousin leads at Borderway
A SHOW and sale of primestock at Carlisle topped £3,939 for a Limousin bull weighing 1,010kg from Messrs Campbell, Carstairs.
This was followed at £3,758.20 for a Limousin bull from Messrs Priestley, Brampton, which weighed in at 989kg.

The champion, a 755kg Limousin heifer from Messrs Brough, Carlisle, sold for £3,065.30, while steers sold to £3,008.19 for one weighing 890kg from Messrs Story, Kirklinton.
Messrs Story also achieved the top price per kg of 414p/kg for a 637kg Limousin heifer.

Champion tops at Cockermouth
ENTRIES from Messrs Powley, Carlisle, claimed the champion and reserve tickets at the anniversary show and sale at Cockermouth before the champion, a Limousin heifer, went on to top the sale at £3,500.
Messrs Powley's reserve champion realised £2,550.
John Fell from Wigton sold yearling heifers to £3,000 while Charolais from John and Ann Baty, Carlisle, led the bullocks at £2,880 for Charolais as they sold their 14-strong consignment to average £2,335.
Setting the best consignment average was Five Houses Farm Shop, Yarm, whose 13 entries averaged £2,430.
