Having the claimed the Blackface breed championship for the third year in succession, a home-bed two-crop ewe from the Ramsay familiy's Milnmark flock, Dalry, went one better this year to take the supreme crown. By one of the flock's stock rams, a £30,000 Elmscleugh, the ewe is out of a dam by a £11,000 Milmark ram.
Inter-breed judge, Jim Pate, Gorebridge, said the Blackface ewe was the outright winner which caught his eye as soon as it came into the ring.
Reserve inter-breed
The reserve spot went to the North Country Cheviot champion, a home-bred shearling gimmer, Smerlie Gloria, from Andrew Polson, Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, and shown by stockman, Raymond Smith. By Kilvaddy Class Act, it was being shown for the first time.
Taking second reserve was the Zwartbles champion, Topnotch New Hope, a home-bred shearling gimmer from Hannah Jackson and Helen Sloan, Rigghead. By Hayberries Low Force, it was reserve breed champion in 2025 and has been champion at Cumberland County for the last two years.Ìý
Mrs Jackson also had the Dutch Spotted champion, Merryboro Iris Moonglow by McDermot's Fireman, which was bought at Lockerbie last year.

Final line-up
Aled Groucott and Victoria Bowring, Mansfield, had two in the final line-up. One was the British Rouge champion, Clanfield Diva, a shearling ewe by a Ian's ram out of Knighton Va Va Voom, which was bought last August from James Theyer and was inter-breed champion at Nottinghamshire Show earlier in the season.Ìý
The other was the Blue Texel champion, Knockmult Kit Kat, a shearling ewe by Matt's Jupiter out of Derg Fantasy which was bought from Russell Millen at Lockerbie last year.Ìý
Also making the final line-up was the Texel champion, a home-bred shearling gimmer from Robbie Wilson's Milnbank flock, Turriff, giving him his 10th Royal Highland championship across the breeds. By Clanfield Golden out of a ewe by Holylee Foreman, it was being shown for the first time.
Mr Wilson also had the male champion, a ram lamb by Auldhouseburn Imperial King out of a Clanfield Golden sired ewe and the reserve female with a similarly bred ewe lamb.
Making the final line-up was the Suffolk champion, a one-crop ewe by Castleisle Black Adder out of a Castleisle Comedian-sired ewe from Graeme Christie's Balquhain flock, Inverurie.Ìý

The Kerry Hill champion was another to make the final cut. This was Woodhouse Farm Fendi, a home-bred shearling gimmer from Ellie Owens, Leominster, who was showing sheep at the Royal Highland for the first time. It is by the 12,000gns breed record holder, Woodhouse Farm El Fabiolo, and was inter-breed champion at Burtwarton as a ewe lamb. It was also one of the inter-breed winning par, along with a ram from Angie Burgess' Top Spot flock, New Abbey.
Inkstack Dram, a four-shear North County Cheviot Hill ram by North Lock Naver Badass from Michael Elliot's Woodside flock, Yetholm, which had been bought, as a stock ram. two years ago at Lairg for £8,500, was also in the final line-up.
As was the Bluefaced Leicester traditional type champion, a two-shear ram from Alan McClymont and family, Yarrow, which had been bought for £22,000 at Kelso last year from the Adams family's Glamis flock, Forfar.

The Charollais champion, a one-crop ewe by Foxhill Va Va Voom from Bruce and Gregor Ingram's Loanhead flock, Inverurie, was also one of the final choices.
Another was the Jacob champion, Carochy Ziggy, a home-bred shearling ram from Barbara Webster, Fife, which was on its first show ring outing.
The commercial champion was a Beltex-sired shearling gimmer out of a Beltex cross Texel ewe from Jim and Daniel Hodge, Cumnock, who were competing at the show for the first time.Ìý
For the second year running the Beltex championship went to Alan Miller, Midmar, Aberdeenshire, this time with Lurg Kylie, a home-bred one-crop ewe by Smart Ass Jackpot out of Buckles Gem.Ìý
Jordan Patterson and Gavin Donald, Strathaven, took the Scotch Mule championship with a shearling gimmer by P56 Dawyck. It was bought at Hexham last year from the Ridley family, Wark, who have bred the Scotch Mule champion at the show for the last three years.Ìý
