A new record for a Simmental bull sold at a society sale in Northern Ireland was set when Gillview Ranger went under the hammer at 10,000gns at Dungannon

Bred and consigned by Ryan Gilmour, Dungannon, Ranger is an October, 2024-born son of the AI sire Coose Lincoln, whose sons sold to 20,000gns at Stirling in February. Tapped out as champion by pre-sale judge, Robert Forde, Mullynock herd, Tempo, Ranger sits in the breed's top 15% for maternal (milk) traits and top 5% for eye muscle area.ÌýBred from the Kilbride Farm Delboy-sired Raceview Millie, Ranger sold to commercial producer and first-time Simmental buyer, Derek Reaney, Plumbridge.

Ashland Silvester, 7,000gns

Selling for 7,000gns to John McGovern, Enniskillen, was Ashland Silvester from Pat and Frank Kelly, Tempo. This 14-month-old is by Ashland Brandy and out of another Raceview female, this time Mollyfortuna 887 which is by Dermotstown Delboy.

Females sold to 5,700gns for Haystar Wonder, an in-calf heifer by Corrick Kentucky from Gavin Hayes and Son, Lisburn. Scanned in-calf to Coose Kingston and bred from the Cleenagh Flasher-sired Haystar Wonder, it was knocked down to Ashley Bowden for his Legmurn herd, Stewartstown.

Coolcran Rafiki, 5,600gns

Back to the bulls and Shane and Paul McDonald, Tempo, paid 5,600gns for the Islavale Miami-sired Coolcran Rafiki which is out of Coolcran Heidi's Khaleesi, a maternal sister to the 26,000gns Coolcran Heidi's Noreen. Forking out the cash was Victor MacFarland, Ballygawley.

Messrs Hayes also landed the reserve championship with their Lissadell Nailer-sired bull named Haystar Revolver which sold to John J. Cavanagh, Pomeroy, for 5,200gns.Ìý
