Evening Sidekick Jennifer is the first cow to be crowned SuperCow champion for three consecutive years at the AgriScot dairy showcase

It was a day for the history books for the Wilson family of Evening Holsteins, Carlisle, when their fifth calver Evening Sidekick Jennifer, claimed the SuperCow championship for the third year running.Ìý

With aÌýmonumentalÌýshow career underÌýits belt,Ìýthe seven-year-old cowÌýalso claimed the supreme championships in all three of the UK's majorÌýdairyÌýshows in 2023,Ìýand honourable mention at this year'sÌýBorderwayÌýUKÌýDairy Expo.

HavingÌýlast calved in July, the 95-point cow isÌýcurrently giving 55 litresÌýdaily.Ìý

Judge, Iwan Morgan, Carmarthen, said his champion was ‘such a good representation of the breed' and the best ‘rumped' cow of the day.ÌýÌý

Reserve SuperCowÌý

Standing reserveÌýSuperCowÌýwasÌýthe Red and White champion,ÌýHanviewÌýAladdin Stocking Red, a seven-year-old cow from Hannah Bown, Worcester.Ìý

The home-bred fifth calver was reserve Red and White champion atÌýBorderwayÌýUKÌýDairy Expo in 2024 and is the dam of this year'sÌýreserveÌýSuperHeiferÌýchampionÌýatÌýAgriScot.

Classified EX95, Stocking Red last calved in June and was shown giving 48 litres daily.ÌýIt marked Ms Bown's first timeÌýexhibitingÌýat the event.ÌýÌý

Purchased by the late Salvador Esquierdo two years ago, the five-year-old cow now resides with the Scott family's Nethervalley herd, Ayr, and is currently giving 33 litres after calving in February.

ItsÌýpreviousÌýwins include inter-breed champion at this year's Ayr ShowÌýandÌýreserveÌýHolstein champion at the Royal Highland Show.Ìý

Reserve Red and WhiteÌý

Standing reserve in the Red and White sectionÌýwasÌýKevin LawrieÌýofÌýArranviewÌýHolsteins,ÌýAyr, withÌýArranviewÌýMirand Aphrodite Red.Ìý

TheÌýsecond calver was an embryo calfÌýout of the German cow, Luck-EÌýRedburstÌýAphrodite Red,Ìýwhich previouslyÌýplacedÌýGermanÌýNational Champion.ÌýClassified VG86 as a two-year-old,Ìýit was shown giving 55 litres.ÌýÌý

Topping the Ayrshire section wasÌýSwaitesÌýNice Girl 42, fromÌýJohn and Jay Adamson, Lanark.Ìý

Brought out by Jay, theÌýhome-bredÌýsecond calverÌýalso placedÌýRed and White hybrid champion at this year's UK Dairy Day. Classified VG87 it was shown 120 days fresh and giving 45 litres.ÌýÌý

Mungo Bryson, Ayrshire,Ìýstood reserve Ayrshire champion withÌýthird calver,ÌýMiddle Jean KM 2.Ìý

Having bred its sire,ÌýWhiteflatÌýKing Marty, Mr BrysonÌýpurchasedÌýthe five-year-old cowÌýfrom theÌýWhiteford family's Middle herd reduction sale earlier this year.Ìý

Champion Jersey went to the partnership of nine-year-old Jack Metcalf, Mark Henry and Rory Timlin, with a four-year-old cow, Mostragee RT Premier Spritz.

Brought out by Heidi Sowerby,ÌýCumbria,Ìýit was the second calver's first win as a milker, having previously won tickets at UK Dairy Day andÌýBorderwayÌýUKÌýDairy Expo as a heifer.ÌýÌý

DarnlawÌýWebcam Janey, a three-year-old cow from Bryce Sloan, Cumnock, stood reserve in the Jersey section.

Only its first time out, the home-bredÌýsecondÌýcalverÌýwas shown giving 28.5 litres, afterÌýcalving in April.ÌýÌý
