Kelvin and Liz Fletcher launch 'taste of the farm' gin using Peak District spring water and hedgerows

New entrant farmers Kelvin and Liz Fletcher have once again diversified their Cheshire farm, launching a small-batch gin crafted using ingredients foraged locally from their land.ÌýÌý

Locally producedÌý

Infused with wild botanicals and blended with fresh spring water from the hills surrounding their holding,  is available in three flavours: classic dry; apple, mint and lemon verbena; and strawberry, hibiscus and black pepper.Ìý

The couple, best known for their ITV series Fletchers' Family Farm, say the range is ‘a little taste of our farm in a bottle' and reflects their journey from TV screens to soil.Ìý

Upon the launch, the Fletchers said: "We're not master distillers. We're a family who dared to step into the unknown.Ìý

"This gin is our story in a bottle: vibrant, honest, and full of heart."Ìý

Since moving to their 120-acre farm in 2021, the Fletchers have taken on farming sheep, pigs and cattle, launched a wool blanket range and embraced life in agriculture with their four children.Ìý

DiversificationÌý

Speaking to ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Guardian last year, Liz Fletcher said: "I have so much respect for farmers that diversify because the work that goes into it is huge.Ìý

"I'm still very much learning and I love speaking to other people and finding out about where they started - you could ask 10 different farmers and you would get 10 different answers."Ìý

The launch reflects a wider trend in farming, with more families exploring diversification to support their core business and connect directly with consumers.ÌýÌý

And with more farmers turning towards underutilised areas of their farms as part of those diversification plans, the Fletchers' new launch provides an example of how they can adapt and innovate with their land.ÌýÌý

Available in limited quantities, the gin is being sold direct from their website under the motto ‘From our farm, to your home'.Ìý
