The Our Yorkshire Farm Next Door star was in tears as she thanked NHS staff who had saved the life of the 17-year-old when he was rushed to hospital via air ambulance.

Diabetes

The meeting was shown on this week's episode of Reuben: Life in the Dales, which follows Ms Owen's eldest son as he embarks on his own farming journey.

The programme showed the family reflecting on the emergency in 2022 when Miles suffered an unforeseen bout of diabetic ketoacidosis. He was subsequently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

Miles had to be airlifted to James Cook hospital from the Yorkshire Dales farm which was a two-hour drive away. Ms Owen also spoke about how important having the air ambulance was in such a rural area.

Reunited with the service crew, Ms Own fought back tears as she thanked them for looking after her son.

Speaking to Miles, the paramedic said: "With the rural nature of where you live, things could have been very different for you. It could have been a different outcome."

Ms Owen took to social media to pay tribute to her son and how well he has coped since his diabetes, as well as those who rushed to help.

"We all wanted to reach out and express gratitude to the people who made a positive difference on what must be one of the difficult days that no one can ever be prepare for."
