British Blue bull leads Melton Mowbray pedigree trade at 9,500gns

There was strong turnout at the multi-breed pedigree cattle sale

British Blues topped the pedigree sale at 9,500gns at Melton Mowbray for Torrington Teddy, a two-year-old bull by Greystone Noveltee from Louise Todd, Market Rasen.

Torrington Toad, a two-year-old son of Attribut du Fond de Bois from the same home sold for 8,000gns. British Blue females sold to 3,850gns for J. Daly, Rugby.

Limousins

Females led the Limousin trade at 9,000gns for 2018-born Blackfriar Omelia, a Gerrygullinane Glen daughter from M.D. and W.M. Morton, Lincoln, which sold with a heifer calf at foot and in-calf again to Milbrook Playboy.

Brockhurst Vendetta, a yearling heifer by Shaws Rover from W.J. and M. Mash, Chesham, sold for 6,000gns. A run of heifers from the Fieldson family, Gainsborough, topped at 5,100gns for Fieldson Utterly by Fieldson Samy.

Limousin bulls sold to 6,000gns for the pre-sale show champion, Brockhurst Undefeated, an April 2023-born son of Goldies Relish from Messrs Mash.

Coxfield Unclefester, a bull by Gascoines Oneofakind from H.G. Sharman and Son, Colmworth, sold for 5,500gns. At the same money was Stain UFO by Mereside Lorenzo from T.J. Denby and Son, Alford.

Honesberie reduction

A reduction of the Honesberie Limousin herd on behalf of Nigel Hollick, Priors Marston, Warwickshire, topped at 5,600gns for 2022-born Honesberie Tansy which sold with a heifer calf at foot. Making 5,300gns was Honesberie Naomi which sold with twin bulls calves. The 32 outfits averaged £4,118.10.

Beef Shorthorns

Beef Shorthorns topped at 5,000gns for the pre-sale show champion, Mineshop Tyrant, a March 2023-born son of Mineshop Phoenix from Chris Nye, Little Downham. Cow and calf outfits from Kingswood ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, Canterbury, sold to 2,950gns with another outfit at 2,800gns.

A. and C. Farms, Rutland, topped at 2,800gn for the in-calf heifer Langhams Fantasy. T.A. Lyon and Son, Bourne, sold a run of commercial haltered yearlings to £2,400, £2,200, and £2,000. ÌýÌý
