Limousin heifer from Abbie Brown which sold for top price of 拢3,600
At the Young 草榴社区 Overwintering competition at Thainstone, the Calladrum Cup, which is won by collecting points for highest feeder margin, highest average daily liveweight gain, best presented and paraded animal and best quality animal, went to Keely Mitchell, Aberlour.
Jack Hendry, Keith, won best quality animal with a 645kg Limousin cross bullock which also took home the overall bullock prize. It sold for 拢3,250 to Blair Duffton, Huntly.
The winning heifer from Finlay Hunter, Culsalmond, was a 532kg Limousin heifer which sold for 拢2,900 to B. T. Kitson Butchers, Yarm.
The home-bred champion was a 508kg Charolais cross heifer from Molly Stuart, Ballindalloch, which sold for 拢3,450 to Messrs Campbell, Fraserburgh. Molly also secured first place in the best presented and paraded and the Charolais prize.

The top price was 拢3,600 for a 433kg Limousin cross heifer from Abbie Brown, Maud, which sold to Rachael Davidson, Keith.
Two animal sold at 拢3,500, firstly the winning un-haltered heifer, a 668kg British Blue cross from Stuart Ross, Strichen, which sold to Messrs Kitson and then a 530kg Limousin cross bullock from Keely Mitchell, 听Aberlour, which went to Messrs Duffton.
The first prize un-haltered bullock, a 673kg Britisn Blue from Stuart Ross, made 拢3,400, to Messrs Kitson.
A 460kg Limousin cross heifer from Finn Christie,Pitcaple, sold for 拢3,100 G. and L. Carroll, 听Kirriemuir.
Averages:听51 heifers, 拢5.19/kg (+拢1.40 on 2024), and 拢2,483.92/head (+拢642.81); 23 bullocks, 拢4.87/kg (+拢1.60), and 拢2,613.48/head (+拢843.96); overall, 拢5.08/kg (+拢1.47) and 拢2,524.19/head (+拢700.78).
