North Yorkshire Police said the goats were found in the Thorpe Underwood area between York and Boroughbridge yesterday (December 4).

Offices said the goats are currently being cared for and safe, but they are eager to find the farmer who owns them.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "This certainly is not a sentence you say every day, but if you are missing nine goats or know anyone who is, we would love to hear from you."

Anyone missing the goats can call North Yorkshire Police on 101 - quoting reference 12230218867 - and ask for police constable David Mackay.
