Dutch Spotted takes the Vale of Glamorgan top spot

Taking the top spot in the sheep section was a Dutch Spotted ewe lamb from Trevor Garlick and Charmane Lovering's Roebuck flock which they run with their children, Rowan and Kya, near Orcop, Herefordshire.

This was the April-born lamb's debut show. The ewe lamb is out of a home-bred ewe, Elora Dragon and by their stock ram, Dyson Fury.

The family have only been breeding Dutch Spotted for three years and have built the flock up to 30 ewes.

The ewe was also part of the third prize inter-breed group of three, which was made up of two more April born lambs from the flock.

Speaking about his champion, inter-breed judge, Pat Greaney, Usk said: "The lamb had superb ring presence and the wow factor you look for in a show animal."

A small but high-quality entry was seen in the cattle section at Vale of Glamorgan, with Rhymil Primadonna taking the beef inter-breed title.

This was Primadonna's last outing after a successful show season, winning reserve female breed at the Royal Welsh, inter-breed at Cothi Bridge and reserve inter-breed at Aberystwyth.
