In an online timed auction hosted by 草榴社区 Marts (R.G. Jones), Dolgellau, sheep dogs sold to a top price of 拢18,525, which when including the buyer's premium, amounts to 拢19,451.
The figure, claimed by the market to be a new world record price for a sheep dog, was for Elan Valley Sally, a 19-month-old black-and-white bitch consigned by Brecon based, David Evans.
The bitch was bred by Dean Addison of Pen y Garreg, Rhayader, and was sired by Derwen Doug, owned by David Evans' son, Kevin. It sold to an undisclosed UK buyer.
The existing world record price for a working sheep dog was set by Emma Gray, Northumberland, in February this year, when she sold her two-and-a-half-year-old black and white bitch, Megan, for 18,000gns (拢18,900) at Skipton. 听听
Next making 拢12,900 was 24-month-old Tynygraig Mal from D. Jenkins, Tynygraig. Sired by his own dog, Moss, the dog sold to an undisclosed buyer from Ireland.
The third highest bid at 拢11,025 was for David Evans' 25-month-old old bitch Non, having bought her from breeder J. E. Mumford, Neath. Kevin Evans also received 拢10,300 for Lynn, a 31-month-old bitch.
